William Bagnell, the founder of Bagnell, Mo, was a railroad man. The City of Bagnell, home to the historic Bagnell Jailhouse rental, along with the Bagnell Ferry that runs alongside the Osage River and the Bagnell Line, played a vital role in the development of the Lake of the Ozarks. This picturesque area thrived thanks to the contributions of the men and women who settled in Bagnell. At one time, Bagnell was known as the railroad tie capital of the world, offering unforgettable Lake Ozarks accommodation options, including charming vintage river cabins. Stay where history surrounds you.

Imagine staying in the Bagnell Jailhouse rental, located above the original City of Bagnell’s Jail! The lower level of this property once housed the jail cells, while the top floor was originally designed as a two-room cabin for the jailer. In the 1950s, the cabin was expanded to create the charming vintage river cabin you see today. Although the cell bars are no longer present, the interior windows of the main floor jailhouse still showcase some remnants of its history. Our families purchased this unique Lake Ozarks accommodation in 2025 and have dedicated ourselves to restoring and preserving its integrity. We hope you experience a sense of 1950s nostalgia during your stay in this distinctive cabin.
